My name is Emily, and I’m a 23 year old Libra mama to a wild little Virgo.
My son, Landon, is 5 and he is my absolute best friend. I became a mom at a young age and I’ll admit I was terrified in the beginning, but he’s everything I could’ve ever imagined in a son: adventurous, intelligent, strong and determined (he’s so many other things but that list would take me all day). He’s my constant motivator. Always teaching me to be the best version of myself possible, and for that I am eternally grateful for him.
Our way of schooling is a balanced mix between “unschooling” and “nature schooling”. I believe learning should be fun. It should include being outside, it should include exploring and getting dirty, it should absolutely include laughter and joy. Children’s imaginations are so vibrant and full of life, however, school diminishes that imagination and forces children to learn things they could already learn naturally outside those four walls. Children should learn in their own time, as every child is different and learn at different paces. If you’d like to learn more about unschooling, check out my post about getting started here.I’m going to base this blog around how we eat, how we school, how we research, and how we live. I’ll provide as much information as I can on the subjects discussed, as well as resources and links within each post. If you ever have questions, or a subject you’d like me to touch on, please feel free to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
